Sabrina Benko
Sabrina Benko has paved her name in the Maryland Dance market for over 10 years now. A Maryland Distinguished Scholar in 1996
started began her journey through dance attending the University of The Arts in Philadelphia majoring in the technique of jazz
and Modern dance. She began her love of choreography early in her years as she choreographed her own Maryland Scholar
Piece at the age of 16. Unfortunately a back injury forced her home and evaluate her true passion after Performing, Teaching.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Baltimore for Public Policy/ Pre-Law and continued her studies
of dance throughout her college years and stays current with new styles by attending workshops, lectures, classes
throughout the tri-state area as well as New York.Her motive and mottois to always strive for better education and is a
advocate for the protection and funding to keep the Arts in public schools. She is also a member of Advocacy for the Arts
and is involved with the monetary struggles both in the public and private sector has inside Maryland on the topic of Arts
spending.
Her love of teaching has taken her many places throughout her career such as Teacher Tap Seminar in Boulder Colorado,
International Boulder Jazz Festival, Joe Tremaine Seminars and workshops, Frank Hatchett of Broadway 3- Day workshop
for teachers, Two off- Broadway performances at the Douglas Fairbanks theater and the actors playhouse in New York City
as well as multiple guest teaching positions in Maryland Public Schools. Sabrina has also created and developed a dance
appreciation program in multiple private schools/charter schools in Maryland creating themed dances for children
to enhance the expression of dance.
